LightWave 9 has been available for months, but it's taken the promise of the forthcoming Universal Binary release to finally get me to slip out of the cozy old slippers that were version 8.x. And despite my being behind the curve, gentle reader, I hope you won't mind me stopping by from time to time to convey some LightWave 9 knowledge, much as I did for earlier versions. So I'll stop pretending I'm writing a teaser for Masterpiece Theater here and just get to today's screencast, which just so happens to be an introduction to LightWave 9's amazing Node Editor.
To paraphrase the catchy slogan that I somehow remember from the front of my beat-up old box containing the Mattel board game Othello (circa 1982), the Node Editor takes a minute to learn, but a lifetime to master. We're going to be focusing on the "minute to learn" part of that saying today, in the hopes that it will serve as the springboard to the second half of the same saying. The bottom line is that LightWave 9's new Node Editor is worth the price of admission all by itself, and once you succumb to its various charms, all kinds of new possibilities present themselves. Are you sufficiently intrigued? No? Well, tough noogies?I'm posting the content anyway.
On a personal note, this is my first screencast after 5+ years of writing for DMN, so I'd appreciate whatever suggestions any of you may have to help improve future installments. Just use the email link in my bio to drop me a line. The clip is broken up into three sections; use the page links to move between them. Enjoy!
